Nature Walks with a Stroller –
Family-Friendly Trails in Israel
don’t have to be complicated.
In Israel, there are plenty of
beautiful, accessible trails
where you can enjoy nature at your own pace —
with your baby or toddler along for the ride.

Whether you’re looking for water, wildlife,
open views or peaceful shade, these easy paths
are perfect for a relaxed family outing.

Ein Afek:

A few minutes’ drive from Acre, lies the national park of Ein Afek.
At the entrance to the site lies a crusader era flourmill
After you have watched the movie,
observe the wetlands on your own,
taking a stroller accessible circular route around
the ponds and growth marking their perimeter.

Wildlife includes soft-shelled water turtles, catfish,
barn owls, stream crabs and many species of migratory birds.

Tel Yodfat:

Farther to the East, in the lower Galilee,
lies Tel Yodfat. Parking is right at the foot of the Tel-
just go up the blue marked trail to the remnants of the wall
that once protected this ancient Jewish community from the besieging Romans.
Follow the green and black trails around the top
of the bald hilltop to read the signs detailing
the struggles of the doomed community
and to take in the vistas the hill has to offer. Then- back down to the car.

Nahal Hashofet:

Who doesn’t like running water, especially in the parched Israeli climate?
Finding it within a reasonable driving distance of
Gush Dan is another question entirely-
but Nahal Hashofet is the answer.
Park your car in the Haruvim Parking and stroll down to the Ein Ami spring,
which flows out of three quarried tunnels into a square pool.
Follow the red blazed trail to Nahal Hashofet.
It leads to a lovely woodland with the remnants of a flourmill.
As you continue you will cross wooden bridges and ramps,
pass by pools fit for bathing by all ages and eventually
even reach a small cave. Moreover, did we mention
that the entire path is stroller appropriate and circular?

Mearat Keshet (Arch Cave):

High above the parched coastal plain,
near the Lebanese Border, is a unique marvel of nature-
Mearat Keshet (Arch Cave).
This is an open roofed cave topped by an natural stone arch,
a popular rapelling and spelunking site,
who are themselves quite an attraction for the Hyrax’s (Rock rabbits)
who make burrow into the walls of the cave. On a clear day,
you can see the Mediterranean Sea in the West,
Lebanon in the North, Mount Carmel in the South,
and the sweeping green hills of the upper Galilee to your east.
If you think visiting this remote site is beyond the ability of a young,
stroller-bound family, then you re sorely mistaken.
A paved stroller and handicapped accessible
path leads to the cave directly from the parking lot,
only 10-15 minutes above the cave.
