The Basilica of Annunciation:
To enter the courtyard Catholic Basilica of the
Annunciation in is to enter a testimony of faith and
love from all over the world

The wide, L shaped courtyard is ringed by
mosaic panels commemorating the annunciation
created by Catholic congregations from all over the world,
from Singapore to Ireland, from Chile to Korea.
Pilgrims from the these nations gather beneath
their respective mosaics to sing psalms and carols in
their national tongues, bringing a true brotherhood of man to these hallowed premises.
The towering structure is divided into two levels.
The lower level is devoted to the historical roots of Christianity,
and centers around the Grotto containing the home in which
the Virgin Mary received the glad tidings of the future birth of Jesus.
The upper level, reached by a winding staircase adorned
by images of Popes who promoted the veneration of the Virgin Mary,
is devoted to the contemporary and future Church.
It includes a Mosaic portraying the Pope and the leaders of
the Greek Orthodox Church together, in brotherhood,
over an alter devoted to the struggle of light against
darkness- a clear message of the need for men of goodwill
of all faiths to unite in the face of evil.
Nazareth is one of the oldest, historical, and Biblical cities in the world.

origin story of his birth celebrated at Christmas time.
